Dr. Robert S Schneider, DDS grew up in a small town in the Greater Cincinnati, Ohio area. He received a Bachelor of Science degree with a biology major from the University of Cincinnati. He completed his dental training at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, graduating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2003. Upon graduation, he relocated to the Fort Myers, FL area and began practicing as an associate dentist for about 18 months. In June of 2005, Dr. Schneider opened the Avalon Dental Studio, located in Fort Myers, FL. In April of 2006, Dr. Schneider acquired the office of Dr. George Ramsey, DDS, located in Cape Coral, FL.

Dr. Schneider has been in the dental field for over 11 years. Prior to entering dental school, he was a chairside dental assistant. "I feel that gives me sort of a...unique view of dentistry. I've been on all sides of that chair; doctor, assistant, and patient. I know what each person feels like and what makes their part difficult. I try to use that information to make everyone's time easier."

Dr. Schneider believes very strongly in ongoing continuing education. The state of Florida mandates that all dentists have at least 30 hours continuing education every 2 years. In the last 12 months alone, Dr. Schneider has taken over 230 hours of continuing education. Most of this additional training has revolved around dental implant surgery and placement, but he has also taken courses in advanced bone grafting, advanced soft tissue grafting, endodontic therapy (root canal treatment), microscope based endodontic therapy, oral conscience sedation, clinical periodontal surgery, surgical extraction of complicated teeth, and ergonomics in the dental office.

CT scans and 3-D computer modeling are becoming increasingly more valuable in dental implant placement and surgery. The computer model allows implants to be placed virtually and evaluate if it is possible to do them without surgery ever taking place.
